Alpha Lipoic Acid

ALPHA LIPOIC ACID is an antioxidant produced in small quantities by our body. It acts as a cofactor in the production of energy in our cell mitochondria.

Alpha lipoic acid has been shown to increase glucose uptake into cells. This action helps to reduce blood sugar and insulin resistance. Many studies show that alpha lipoic acid prevents the damaging effect of sugar on body tissues. It has been used in the prevention of diabetic complications, such as diabetic neuropathy and cataract.

Alpha lipoic acid also possesses unique antioxidant properties. It can fight against free radicals both in water-soluble and fat-soluble areas. It has also been found to recycle other antioxidants: Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Coenzyme Q10 and glutathione.
