GLUCOSAMINE, an amino sugar found naturally in the body, is made from glucose and the amino acid glutamine. Production of glucosamine slows with age. Through normal wear and tear the cartilage is constantly being broken down and replaced. Production of new cartilage to replace the breakdown of the old cartilage reduces when we age. Glucosamine is a natural raw ingredient needed by the body to rebuild its cartilages.
 
CHONDROITIN is a carbohydrate that occurs naturally in the body. It is one of the products necessary for the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans – one of the major components of a cartilage. But it probably plays a more important role by blocking and neutralizing destructive enzymes (enzymes Collagenase and Phospholipase) in the joints. When chondroitin is added to the diet it helps to reduce the level of these destructive enzymes. Chondroitin also helps to keep cartilage healthy by absorbing fluid (particularly water) into the joints.

A combination of GLUCOSAMINE, the raw material to repair or rebuild cartilage, and CHRONDROITIN may block destructive enzymes that break down the cartilage in the joints.
